Speaking on Friday (10), Senator Jose Medeiros urged the federal government more investments in roads and airports. According to him, Mato Grosso – one of the states with the highest agricultural productivity in the country – could be more competitive if spending on transportation infrastructure to be treated as a priority by managers.
– Despite being a big producer, we have to compete with countries like the United States, which has a transportation system in three modes – rail, roads and highways – competing with each other, reducing the load, and all very well structured – exemplified .
According to Medeiros, most state roads are not duplicated. Holes and lack of maintenance are also part of the landscape. Transportation investment, according to the senator, also prevent thousands of deaths.
– This year, 2017, 280 people will die [on the highways of Mato Grosso]. And we have to make this reality can change. We have this concern, since it is not conceivable that a road, where 40 000 vehicles pass, is only lane – lamented.
In addition to investment in roads, the government should encourage work in airports and other means of transportation, senator evaluation:
– Previously, it was said that development is necessary to get the roads. Today I say: also need airports, aviation is also necessary. For the entrepreneur who wants to invest in the state does not have time to spend four or five hours on a highway, – he said.
