Hong Kong reopens imports of Brazilian beef

Hong Kong health authorities decided Monday (March 27) night to suspend restrictions that had been applied to the import of Brazilian  beef,

Instead of a blanket ban, Hong Kong will now only block imports from the 21 companies being investigated for passing off expired meat as fresh, the Brazilian government said in a statement.

Hong Kong is considered an important market for the Brazilian meat, for being the gateway to other countries in Asia that have no commercial or animal health agreements with Brazil.

With the end of the suspension, all major markets for Brazilian meat exports have been reopened.
