Itaipu Binacional has reached a new generation of daily energy registration in the first quarter of 2017, with 284,496 megawatt hours of recording (MWh). In the same period of 2016, the plant had reached the daily average of 281,664 MWh, the second best result since the company began operating in May 1984.
Even with one less day on the calendar compared to 2016, which was a leap year, and hydrological conditions less favorable, cumulative production in the first three months of 2017 remained stable compared to the same period last year. 25,604,769 MWh were recorded, compared to less than 0.1% to register each quarter 2016 was 25,631,082 MWh.
Just what the product of Itaipu, from January to March this year would be enough to supply a city like Curitiba for five years and three months.
