The 195MW Lagoa do Barro project will comprise Nordex’s AW125 3MW turbines, acquired by Nordex in its takeover of Acciona Wind Power in 2016.
Delivery and installation of the turbines is due from mid-2017. Nordex said the project site’s high wind speeds could result in capacity factors of around 58%.
Atlantic Renewable Energy is a subsidiary of renewables investment firm Actis. Actis is targeting investments of over $320 million in Atlantic, to build over 650MW of renewable energy generation capacity in Brazil by 2018.
The developer has three wind projects currently operating in Brazil, with a combined capacity of 240MW. The Lagoa do Barro project is one of two currently in development.
