Despite firm denials than he had approved payment of bribes, President Michel Temer was scheduled to give an announcement on TV at 4pm Brazil time today, regarding a scandal that has overrun the country with astonishing speed.
Thursday afternoon, rumors were flying across Brazilian media and social media that the announcement would be a resignation of his post as President. The President has been accused of greenlighting a bribe to a prominent businessman, in order to buy the silence of the jailed former Speaker of the House, Eduardo Cunha.
Persistent and groundless rumors
A few minutes ago President Temer spoke on the radio and television that he will not resign and asks to hurry in the investigation of the accusations against him. Now, what everyone waiting is the publication of the recordings that accuse President Temer for.
