Joesley Batista confirmed to the Federal Police that he made periodic payments to an account abroad at the request of former Minister Guido Mantega, the finance minister in the Dilma Rousseff administration, and that part of these funds was used in the President campaign of 2014.

In a statement on Thursday, June 22, in the operation Bullish, which investigates possible fraud at the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) to benefit JBS, Joesley stated that extracts from the account were periodically presented to Mantega for payment verification.

Joesley confirmed that Mantega, when he was president of Brazil’s Central Bank, accompanied and pressured the technicians to release loans for JBS to buy Swift Argentina in 2005. “If it were not for Guido Mantega’s pressure and accompaniment, the loan would not have gone” “Joesley said in the statement, confirming that he himself had asked the then president of the bank to expedite the business.
