Rumours have been confirmed.  Brazilian economist Paulo Nogueira Batista Junior was officially fired on Thursday (Oct.12)  as  executive vice president of the New Development Bank (NBD), the bank of the BRICs, by unanimous decision of the five partners – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Former executive director for Brazil and 10 other Latin American countries in the International Monetary Fund,  in 2013 Nogueira Batista became embroiled in a controversy by abstaining in voting to help Greece, which was already struggling to pay its debts, being publicly reprimanded by then-finance minister Guido Mantega.bri
