Chamber’s committee assigns US$ 110 million to a road connecting to an non-existent port

A Chamber of Deputies committee approved an amendment to the federal budget to build a highway connecting to a port in Marica (state of Rio de Janeiro) that has not yet been built. The resources assigned to the Project amounted to R$ 400 million (around US$ 110 million).

The chairman of the committee, deputy Altineu Cortes (PMDB) and several other congressmen from Rio vote in favor of the amendment. The project of the future port of Marica does not yet receive the environmental licence necessary to initiate construction.

39 proposals other amendment proposals were rejected by the mentioned committee, including  the urgent Works for remaking Belo Horizonte’s beltway.
