The Attorney General’s Office has asked the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) to open a criminal investigation against Sao Paulo’s governor, Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB), to investigate charges for corruption brought against him by former  Odebrecht’s managers.

Brazil’s law determines that  before the opening of a legal action against a governor, a prior authorization should be issued by STJ. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Alckmin is suspect of having e illegally received R $ 10.7 million (about $ 3.3 million) from the Odebebrecht contractor, under the guise of electoral contribution.
