Creation of National Mining Agency approved by the Senate
The Federal Senate approved on Tuesday (Nov.28) provisional measure MP 791/201 that creates the National Mining Agency, replacing the National Department of Mineral Production, which was extinguished. The measure will wait now for the Presidential sanction.
The new agency is expected to oversee mining enterprises in order to ensure the rational use of the deposits and ensure their operational safety.
The bill approved in Congress excludes the function of monitoring the safety of dams and the adequate closure of mines. In addition to regulatory standards, the agency should oversee mining companies and people with mining rights, implement the national policy for mining activities, and levy the Financial Compensation for the Exploration of Mineral Resources (Cfem).
