Brazil recycled 280 thousand tons of aluminum cans in 2016 (more than 20 billion units), which represented 97.7% of cans discarded in the country that year.

According to Mario Fernandez of the Brazilian Aluminum Industry Association (ABAL), aluminum beverage cans average 110 units per consumer-year in Brazil, and  represents almost half of the volume of aluminum scrap recovered annually.

Nowadays in approximately 30 days, an aluminum beverage can be bought at a supermarket in Brazil, used, collected, recycled and returned to the shelves for consumption.
