A Peruvian court on Monday (Dec.4) convicted  to 18 months pre-trial detention four former executives of local companies that were partners of Brazilian construction company Odebrecht in projects built in Peru.

Specifically, they have been charged of paying bribes to Peruvian officials in the works of the South Interoceanic Highway, which links the state of Acre in Brazil to the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru.

The convicts are former leaders of Graña y Montero; the president of the company JJ Camet Contratistas Generales and the general manager of the construction company ICCGSA, accused of bribing public agents, among them former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo to defraud bidding processes.

In addition to evidence of wrongdoings in the works of the South Interoceanic Highway, the Peruvian Justice investigates suspected fraud in other civil works that Odebrecht participated, as in the construction of Line 1 of the Lima subway.
