UE-Mercosur free trade agreement blocked by both sides resistances

The expectation that a free trade agreement could be signed this year between Mercosur and the European Union no longer exists. Localized resistances, on either side, make their signature unfeasible.
The decision is a setback for the presidents of Brazil and Argentina, Michel Temer and Mauricio Macri, who hoped that a decision later this year would help in the process of economic recovery in both countries.

But the impasse is also a setback for the European Union, which perceives in an agreement with Mercosur an indirect response to the unilateralist vision of the United States in the sphere of international trade.
