The bill of law (PDC 88/18), which deals with intervention in public security in the State of Rio de Janeiro, was arrived in the Senate this morning (20). The matter was approved by 340 votes, 72 opposing votes and one abstention this morning by the Chamber of Deputies. The session that will analyze the proposal in the Senate was called to 18h.

The decree will have an impact on the drafting of proposed amendments to the Constitution (PECs), which President Eunicio Oliveira has already warned will be stalled for as long as federal intervention lasts. “As long as the intervention in the state of Rio de Janeiro lasts, I, Eunício Oliveira, president of the Senate and the National Congress, will not proceed to any measure of change in the Constitution, otherwise I would be in breach of the Brazilian Constitution, which I vowed to fulfill. It will not make any changes to the country’s constitution, “said the Senate president.

Also according to Eunicio, who also chairs the work of the National Congress, there are about 190 PECs currently in the Senate or House.
