TCU should examine LIBRA TERMINAL concession contracts tomorrow

The Brazilian Court of Audit (TCU) is to determine Tomorrow the declaration of the container terminal operated by the Libra Group in the port of Santos, in Sao Paulo. The proposal will be taken to plenary by Minister Ana Arraes, who agreed with the technical report that classified as illegal the early extension of the concession contract in 2015.

The Libra group was one of the targets of Operation Skala, which was defrauded on March 29 by decision of Supreme Court Justice Luiz Roberto Barroso to investigate suspicions of payment of bribes to President Michel Temer by companies in the port sector. Four members of the Torrealba family, which controls the company, were temporarily arrested.

Without a definitive position on cancellation of the contract, the terminal operator Terminal Link remains interested in the area. The company, a partnership between French shipowner CMA CGM and China Merchants Holdings International, entered into an exclusive agreement with Libra – before the Operation Skala – to analyze the Libra group’s port assets.
