After a time away from the spotlight of the electric sector, Senator Edison Lobao reappeared on Thursday (9), retaking the leading role in the area by nominating Elisa Bastos Silva to ANEEL and also being appointed the rapporteur in the CAE (Committee on Economic Affairs ) of the priority project of the Senate government, the privatization of the Eletrobras distributors (PLC 77/18).
Lobao was Minister of Mines and Energy in the governments of former presidents Lula and Dilma Rousseff, where he led the portfolio for 8 years: from 2008 to 2016. He is accustomed to giving letters in the electric sector.
The government of Michel Temer has been seen without the support of senators of the MDB who understand of energy for the approval of the priority projects of the area in the House: that of the sale of the distributors of Eletrobras and that allows the auction of surpluses of the onerous assignment (PLC 78/18).
Senate leader Romero Juca prefers not to touch the issue before the election and Senator Eduardo Braga is publicly opposed to selling his state’s energy company.
Both Juca and Braga are not ahead of the polls, and therefore without the guarantee of re-election. Meanwhile, Lobao, who appears leading, or secondly, in the intentions of voting for two seats to the Senate in Maranhão, returned to fall in the graces of the Palace of the Planalto.
