Presidential candidate, Jair Bolsonaro, was stabbed in the afternoon of Thursday Sep. 6th, during a campaign in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais.
Bolsonaro received medical attention in the city and recovered from surgery. Since 17h40, the Brazil Monitor team is checking in real time the information circulating on the Internet and related to the attack against the presidential candidate.
The man responsible for stabbing the presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro said the attack on the presidential candidate “was at the command of God.” Adélio Bispo de Oliveira, 40, is arrested and confessed to the crime. He will be transferred to the federal prison of Campo Grande.
Bolsonaro was taken to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Juiz de Fora. The hospital reported that he was admitted to the emergency room at about 3:40 pm with “a sharps’ injury in the abdomen.”
Initially one of his sons, State Representative Flavio Bolsonaro, said the injury had been superficial, but examination indicated the suspicion of a liver injury. He was referred for surgery, and doctors found that there was no liver injury, but there were injuries to the gut. The state of Bolsonaro is considered stable.
