Petrobras said Tuesday it received the appointment of economist Roberto Castello Branco as chairman of the company and to serve on the board of directors.
Castello Branco accepted the invitation of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro’s team almost a month ago. He will replace Ivan Monteiro, who was tipped to remain in charge of Petrobras.
“The indication shall be subject to the internal corporate governance procedures, including the respective conformity and integrity analyzes necessary for the company’s succession process, as appraised by the Nominating, Compensation and Succession Committee, and by the board of directors and, subsequently, by the general meeting of shareholders, “Petrobras said in a noteworthy fact.
Castello Branco holds a PhD in Economics from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and has held management positions at the Central Bank and the mining company Vale.
