Brazil Rejects Mediation Proposal in Venezuelan Crisis

According Chancellor Ernesto Araújo indicated that the government considers that the moment for a new diplomatic process proposed by Uruguay and Mexico would no longer make sense

The Brazilian Administration rejects the possibility of mediation by Mexico and Uruguay in the Venezuelan crisis. “We have already passed this chapter,” Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo, who is still in Davos for meetings with foreign governments, said on Friday morning.

On Thursday, Nicolás Maduro signaled that he was willing to accept a mediation offer made by the governments of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Tabaré Vázquez. The two left-wing countries did not recognize National Assembly president Juan Guaidó as interim president, but work for a peaceful transition to the country’s leadership.
