Pork Exports Grow 5.65% in 2019

Russia is the third main destination of shipments in the industry

The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reports that total pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) reached 54,090 tons in February. The result exceeds by 26.5% the volume of pork shipped in the second month of 2018, it was exported 42,700 tons.

In revenue, pork shipments generated US $ 100.1 million in revenue, a result 13.5% higher than the balance of February 2018, with US $ 88.2 million.

Thanks to the good performance of sales in February, the accumulated balance of exports in 2019 (January and February) reached 102,600 tons, 5.65% more than shipped in the first quarter of 2018 to 97 100 tonnes.

In revenue, sales this year totaled US $ 191.7 million, Number 4% lower than the results for the first quarter of 2018 of $ 199.6 million.

Reopened in November last year, the market of Russia imported in the first two months of this year 11 thousand tons. The country is already the third main destination of Brazilian products.

The sharp rise in pork sales to Russia and other markets points to an optimistic horizon in exports in the sector. In this context sales recovery, it is important to maintain the flow of shipments in various markets to reduce dependence around few export destinations. Says Francisco Turra, president of ABPA.
