PIGMEAT: Volume Exported by Brazil Remains High in 2019

Brazilian pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) reached 54,800 tons in March, reports the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The volume is 5.6% lower than the performance in the same period last year, with 58,100 tons.

In revenue, there was a decrease of 7.8% over the same period last year, with US $ 106.6 million in March 2019 and $ 115.7 million in March last year.

The result of the first quarter following positive for the productive sector, with a total of 157,500 tons exported, volume 1.46% higher than that shipped in the same period of 2018, with 155,200 tons. The exchange surplus reached US $ 298.3 million, 5.4% lower performance than the one in 2018, with US $ 315.3 million.

“Despite the decline in the monthly number, the balance of sales accumulated in 2019 following positive, with sequential increases in January, February and March, which should gain momentum, too, with the smooth flow of exports to China, Vietnam, South Korea , Philippines, Japan and Russia, “says Francisco Turra, president of ABPA.
